Indigenous and NAIDOC Resources
Indigenous Australians are the first known human inhabitants of the Australian continent and its nearby islands recognised to have arrived up to 70,000 years ago. Aboriginal history says that "we have been here since time began". The term includes both the Torres Strait Islanders and the Aboriginal People. The latter term is usually used to refer to those who live in mainland Australia, Tasmania, and some of the other adjacent islands. The Torres Strait Islanders are indigenous Australians who live in the Torres Strait Islands between Australia and New Guinea. NAIDOC Week is a time for all Australians to gather and to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements. It is an opportunity to recognise the contributions Indigenous Australians make to our country and society. Buy from Edu-21's amazing range of indigenous items. Shop now.
